Once again, not exactly sure where people are getting main girl from her.
Also, this is a story driven game, not a sex driven game. Very personality, personal circumstance driven, and if you don't like that then there is always avoiding the game in the first place. If you want a shallow sex simulator, look elsewhere. If you want unquestioned devotion and mindless fucktoys, look elsewhere. If you want a story with substance, this is one of the few h games you'll get that in.
Nothing official or exclusive was decided between the mc and her. The choice to not fuck her, also there. You end up fucking her despite knowing she's a prostitute, that's on you. You can't then blame her or the dev. Those were your choices. Not only that, none of the dialogue screams "love interest" for her. It's just you trying to thank her for saving your sister by trying to become her friend. If you somehow got attached, that's on you. Her being a prostitute was known from the start.
I am not going to say much more but there are a few things I'ma end this with.
Touch some grass. Learn how to have female friends. Stop objectifying women(ironic considering the circumstances, but it still stands since you're only mad she's a prostitute because of the fact she's not exclusive to you).
Not everything is about sex. Not every interaction you have with a woman is about sex. If you see the events of her story as netorase, you REALLY need to learn the definition of netorase cus this don't fit it.

Because I'm literally saying that it's not netorase. The player has no claim over her. Nothing was made official. That's like having a friend, who them cheats on her boyfriend with you, breaks up with her boyfriend, fucks another one of her friends and claiming you were cucked. You weren't.

There was an old patreon post a while ago where KS basically said he made Yuka and Eri side characters so that he could focus more on a specific character's story. That's definitely a point of contention as Yuka is at least a commonly reoccurring (and seemingly well-liked) character.
People assumed Chika's story WAS that specific character's story. Another reason people call Chika a main girl is because of how she appears in that sort of flash forward at the beginning where it feels like it foreshadows the MC's harem. So it's a safe assumption to make that she IS a main girl. Plus she's a commonly occurring character and the main girls are usually shown quite often in these types of games.
Yuka and Eri also appear in that flash forward. Cutting back on characters to focus on another person's story isn't making that person a main character, or the others side characters. It just means that you're giving a certain character depth.
For example, if KS suddenly said "I'm cutting back on a lot of the girl's stories to focus on another character" and the next update, Harry had like 75% of the screentime, that doesn't make him a main love interest. Or hell, female interests, if he had mc hang out with that one girl that you helped in the beginning.
Edit: I do kinda understand why that would make people think of her as more a main girl, plus she does appear in plenty of image spreads on the patreon so perhaps she really is a main girl. Idk.
Yuka and Eri appearing in that flashforward makes them appear as if they're important. In most of these games, side characters' routes aren't required for the best or harem endings, they're usually added filler at the end with stuff like "so and so was there too." And important love interests usually equals main love interests. And if that flashforward is basically the "best/harem" ending then yeah.
And it'd depend on if that character's story being focused on affects the ENTIRE game. If the post he made a while ago said something like "I'm holding OFF on their stories for a while." Then it'd be fine. But instead it pretty much said that he's making them side characters. So less screen time, less development, pretty much less everything.
It wouldn't make Harry a main LI but it could very well mean he's now a main character. (hopefully my memory is correct) He's that blonde guy who's basically the MC's best friend right? Judging from some hints and tells, he pretty much already IS an important character too.
Yeah I wouldn't argue that he is a main character. Same logic could be applied to any of the girls who the MC currently CLEARLY has an attraction to. Chika isn't one of those.. yet.
However while the two of them appearing in the flashback does make it confusing, Yuka says in one of the post chapter "set scenes" that there isn't any incest.
Yet she was in the flashback. Important, not a love interest. Your bond as siblings probably grows quite a bit though. Not sure what that means but either way, that aside..
Obviously it's not the same situation with Chika. I just think it is way to early for people to be developing that kind of connection to Chika. I mean obviously eventually she'll be up for a relationship but at this point of the story? Not sure how anyone would even think about going for her "route" and getting upset about something that is clearly a temporary arrangement in the game. That's like getting upset about your gf having had fwbs before you got into a relationship. Makes no sense.
That's why I don't understand how it is NTR.
Speaking off topic though, for the flashback. I think it would be pretty cool of that wasn't the end of the story, but rather a scene that shows up in the next update or the one after that. And then the true storm happens after that. "Well now we're all caught up." the everything turns to shit. Like some hardcore story shit, losing people emotionally(like people walking out on you for your choices) etc. If that first scene was the ending, it just wouldn't quite feel.. that the story was worth it. Idk it seemed hella generic and almost convinced me not to play.
Anyway, back on topic. I understand many things you have pointed out. It is very understandable why people would come to certain conclusions related to what you have asserted. My entire point here now is that it shouldn't exactly have been possible to get to that conclusion if you were thinking straight.
That being said, you were clearly in your right mind while playing. Obviously, probably also there for the gooning but you weren't walking in with your lust pack in tow the entire way through. Yet you still somehow missed certain visual, verbal, and emotional cues from her end.
And my solution was terribly worded as well. If a character says they are a prostitute, or there is a rumor, don't treat it as though she is, but hold onto it with a HUGE asterisk. "I'll come back to this detail later" type shit. Then wait until you get your clarifying moment. Read dialogues, don't skip as some of these people clearly did. Learn when something qualifies as a certain genre. etc.
If you dont like it dont play. It is different, I will acknowledge that. Hell I'd go as far as saying SOME tags could be changed. BUT there is thus far no NTR and only a glimpse of maybe changing her mind to a better life, IF she's established as a LI. Fuck outta here knocking a good game, go make one exactly how you want it.
With how much I've been defending it, I must admit that it would definitely benefit from mentioning the fact it contains a prostitute as a potential. Not an NTR tag cus it doesn't exactly qualify for one, but still a warning for content nonetheless.

They're not. They are fairly feminine, have their own issues, and most of the sex scenes don't feel forced. But that's the thing. People want it to be forced.
I downloaded this game for the action and story aspect of it. Two things that it never failed to deliver, all while still being engaging, heartwarming, heart wrenching and funny at times as well.
Whenever Yamada(it was him, right?) said something dumb asf, my face went •-• and you seemed to have predicted that reaction because the other characters did that face as well.
Harry, he's a real bro. Loyal to his gf, and doesn't fail to encourage his friends in their romantic lives as well. The main character isn't even manipulative (not as much as plenty other games out there) and seems to genuinely give a shit about the girls and honestly seems like he'd be loyal in a relationship. There are plenty things you did well. So as another comment said, whoever is shit talking you and Chika's storyline(or any other storyline for that matter) needs to go touch grass or idk, go for their generic step-ladder porn on the hub which has no substance whatsoever. "Oh step ladder, I'm stuck!"

(Positive) Okayy so, I checked back to see if there was an update and, god got a couple things to say:I don't remember the prostitution matter much, that said prostitution is INCREDIBLY RARELY because they want to do it and much MUCH more often because they need to or have been coerced into it, so no need to bash the girl as far as I remember and seen here, I don't reckon we know the reasons she does it, nor if she will continue, stories have character development, give the dev(s?) a chance ffs. (Although I do have to agree that the 3 huge crashout paragraphs are monumental and made me laugh when I saw how long it was)
She does give a reason. Her dad lost his job and turned deadbeat, drinking away his issues and treating her like shit, so she fell to prostitution since it is guaranteed easy pay and she has to pay for rent AND her dad's drinking habit.
The game is only really setting her up as a friend at this point and a lot of people are okay with that. Not every hole needs to be conquered.
I mean with their(the people complaining) logic, even if Chika didn't exist the game would still be netorare in some form since Miharu is madly in love with you and you end up fucking other girls. Hell, even that one girl in the student council could give a perfect example of what the player(not the MC, the actual player) is like to the other girls. She wants to fuck you, and does end up fucking you but you end up fucking other people. Oh no, ntr(and that isn't actually ntr based on definition so they're just complaining)! I didn't unlock the h scenes with Ayase so I'm not 100% about her stance but I'm pretty sure there is no real attraction there, Miharu gets jealous and upset when she sees you with other girls so there's that. Either way, why complain about it one way but not the other? Double standards. It's not even soft ntr. Nor is it cuckold in any way. It's just a character in a main friend role doing what she literally said that she does and gooners wanting exclusivity.
MC doesn't see her sexually nor romantically. The only time he does is if you choose to fuck her. Which is after she tells you her situation. And even then it is only in that situation. I don't believe the story really shows her in a way that you would want exclusivity at this point in the story. Later on however, MC might develop feelings. The story sets her up as a mutual friend to you and your sister and you have the chance to keep it that way and help her get out of the situation she's in. That's not NTR. That's misplaced entitlement towards an optional character.
I haven't played the game The problem is not that she isn't a virgin but bc she a main girl is a prostitute. I would be greatly upset playing a game for hours just to find out the main girl I'm interested in is having sex with other man who wouldn't. Romance with her is easily avoided and you can interact with her as just a friend and still help her get out of that life. She isn't THE main girl, more of a side girl, and the rest of the story and characters outside of her little piece of the story she gets is worth getting into.
Just saying, maybe give it a try. You don't need to romance Chika, and you can still enjoy the story as she's a small percentage of the story that can be avoided(and you can choose to leave her alone or simply help her out as a friend, sex isn't forced.)

I dont think this game is need harem just make routes to choose people. harem is ruining pal harem is more like a paradody fun games thing or easy fuck games and i think you are trying to improve the game may this upset some players but i dont think this game need harem route maybe 2 girls at once with some girls that have friendship or character development each other like ayase and miharu or something you can try that but harem gonna ruin the games weight. ı think you should consider this make choices more impactfull like you can searh love money rocknroll its not best but somewhat good and perfect example of great route style.

I mean i guess in story sense, you'd call it netorare, and in player sense, you'd call it netorase if you knew it had it in it.
And that's only if you don't know what truly makes something netorare/rase. The entire story so far she's been reserved and pushing you away. You insist do she just goes with whatever you and your sister wanna do with her. Which isn't anything sexual, literally just hanging out. When your character first meets her, he finds out that she saved your sister, Yuka, and your sister recounts everything that happened verbatim. Which includes Chika mentioning she's a prostitute. Apparently everyone treated that as simply a rumor, later on she pretty much has a drunken breakdown, offers you sex which you can refuse, and after that you see her leaving a hotel with a guy. It's not based on your actions and even by the hater logic, it would only be seen as ntr if the hotel scene is only triggered if you have sex with her. It's not. And even then, by the definition of ntr, still not ntr.
There is no exclusivity claimed here. She says she's a prostitute, she makes it clear she'll stay a prostitute. People calling that being cucked need to go and actually meet someone for once.
The story was good and unique, the soundtrack was great, the animation, character designs were beautiful. Almost everything about this game was good, just ignore those morons, this game is not ntr. You can choose if you would want to pursue with the other chika, so if you don't want anything to do to her you can ignore her.

I'm making an educated guess here, but I'm pretty sure the new update is really close. If we assume KS started working right after 0.3 became public, then between that date and the last public patreon update (11 Oct) was a timespan of 286 days. Assuming linear development (which is not as he mentioned in his last public post), if we divide the then progress percentage (90) by the days we had for that timespan, we get roughly 0.31468531468%/day. Multiply it by the days since that update (54) and we get 16.9930069927. Again assuming linear development, it should have been already done (90%+16.9930069927% = 106.99%). Which it is not, and that's fair, but it could mean the update will be done in the following days, probably even this week.
Don't count too much on it though, as development can run into obstacles at any point for any amount of time.

This is what I was thinking. It is actually written fairly realistically character-wise. The sex scenes aren't as forced as they tend to be in AVN's, it is more focused on the lore and character's personal lives and issues rather than sex.
The characters tend to be respectable in their endeavors so the people complaining ought to be gooners with no personal depth whatsoever.

He's also working solo. Many other AVN's have either at least a small team, or they have most of the story complete when they release them. And they tend to do the generic "character png pops up in screen with simple face variations" instead of whole environments and unique frames each time.

I think the plot and modeling is comparable to eternum, if not better. Highly recommended
I def. like Eternum a lot more (no hate to the maker of this game) but I am liking this one a good deal. No constant spelling/grammatical errors and the story is above average. I think some of the exposition is laid a little too thick at times, but it's compelling enough to keep me reading and looking forward to future updates.

THAT would be the "until proven guilty" part. It is impossible to deny the evidence your own eyes give you. She comes out of a love hotel... with another guy. Ergo the prostitute rumor is then confirmed to be true.
That wouldn't be as much of a problem IF it was properly built up to. I've mentioned this in a comment I made 2 months ago, but I'll mention it again. I believe those rumors aren't found anywhere else outside of that exact conversation which represents a massive missed opportunity by the dev. Players first see Chika as a goth who is closed off and apprehensive about friendships. When this random "rumor" is then confirmed to be true a day or so after her scene, it blindsides people because they only just discovered it moments ago. Throughout the game leading up to that point, you find NOTHING about that rumor. NOTHING hints that Chika is a "prostitute." It practically doesn't even exist until SHE HERSELF mentions it RIGHT THEN AND THERE.
At the very least characters should've been talking about the rumors throughout the game, which would then allow more of a story buildup as well as an opportunity for the dev to add in hints as to why the quotes around "prostitute" matter instead of the "just trust me bro" excuse that the dev is currently using. That way the players could possibly discover the hints and then build theories around the whole thing. It'd foster engagement in the community instead of discourse like it is now as well as create more trust with the dev overall. Right now all we can do is wait until 0.4 releases and replaying the game right now yields no additional insight into why it's "prostitute" and not prostitute. 0.4 will essentially be the "make or break" update for many people. Resulting in either people forgiving the dev, or a mass exodus away from the game. Plus there's the fact that his trust has dropped in the eyes of many, which I can see resulting in accusations of the dev rewriting Chika's story in some way or another.
No, towards the end of the most recent version, she confirms herself that it is true. She explains the circumstances that got her into such a situation, and the player character offers to help her get a normal job and says he'd rather not see her working like this.
He even helps her confront her dad, and I have a feeling your assistance will bare fruits(meaning she'll get a normal job) in the next update. If not, idrc as I personally am not looking at her as a potential love interest.
I'm assuming in later updates, if you help her, she does eventually stop being a prostitute, but given that's her main issue at this point, I'm not sure how KS will make her story still matter after that.(I mean the message will still matter, but what will her story and conflicts be after she stops?)
Before her H-scene she herself confirms the rumors, that is correct, then an extra layer of proof is added when you see her exit a hotel with a client a little while later. But the conversation that Kaizen was talking about was a conversation between MC, Ayase, Yuka, and Chika in a restaurant, NOT the one between Chika and the MC in the MC's apartment.
This is where the "Not sure if I'm misremembering or not" part of my comment comes in as I haven't replayed that specific conversation (the restaurant one), but I believe that in the restaurant conversation she simply mentions that there are rumors going around school about her. Kaizen, was acting as if at that point in time, those rumors were 100% proven true simply because Chika mentioned them. She basically said something like "people are saying I have sex for money" and Kaizen took that as her pretty much saying "I DO have sex for money. It's 100% confirmed true." Kaizen was then using that as evidence that Chika's "prostitution" was already mentioned when at that specific point it was nothing more than a rumor.
My comment was pointing out how those "rumors" don't exist BEFORE that conversation in the restaurant, when Chika brings them to your attention. NOBODY mentions them UNTIL THAT POINT. Which is one of the reasons why the players are upset as it feels like it comes out of literally nowhere with absolutely zero buildup. When they get to the restaurant and Chika mentions the rumors, the average player (me included) is most likely thinking something along the lines of "Oh, they're just rumors, surely the story will involve us proving that they're false." Only to be severely disappointed when the story then proceeds to double down on the rumors by instantly confirming them to be true a short while later.
Also it's important to note that KS says the quotes around "prostitute" matter, so I don't know what the hell that means.
Yes, Kaizen was talking about that scene in the restaurant. Then you went on to explain what a rumor is and said "It's not a fact" so I sought to correct that.
Y'know, because it is a fact.
But yeah, at that point in time it was unknown. However, it was still mentioned. Also I'm guessing Yuka recounted the flashback word for word so technically both of you know she said "Dangerous people pay to sleep with me" when she saved your sister.
It was actually MC and Yuka who had the doubts and assumed she was simply saying that to scare off the other girls. Chika herself however was honest the entire way through. When she confirmed it later on, it's because she knew you had doubts about what she herself said being true.
Also, that's not exactly something that needs buildup. She said it in a natural situation. Y'know, girls being toxic to other girls about who the latter slept with.
That gets it out of the way, and gives a little insight about why she feels the need to stay away from other people.
And then clearing up lingering confusion and misunderstanding.
Players are actually upset about the fact she's a "main girl" that you can "pursue" and a prostitute.
And some even claim that they didn't know until after the h scene. Which you know isn't even correct.
So is the main character, not seeing what the issue is.

Every MC in just about every VN can be considered a whore. They ALL sleep with multiple women, and almost ALWAYS keep it to themselves until it blows up in their faces. Very rarely do you find MCs that actually tell the women they're in relationships with, that they sleep with pretty much anyone that looks at them.
Some people play these games to live out their fantasies or some shit while others simply enjoy the stories. (Not gonna lie, the stories have been more enjoyable than half of the AAA trash I've played in the past 5 years.)
The only expectation that 99% of the people who play these games has is that none of the Love Interests in these games EVER have sex with another man. ESPECIALLY when the MC is ACTIVELY pursuing said Love Interest or already IN A RELATIONSHIP with said Love Interest (irrelevant for New Horizons, but IS relevant for My Best Deal)
The Love Interests can only have sex with other men if it is COMPLETELY OPTIONAL and (very rarely) A PUNISHMENT FOR BAD CHOICES (Caribdis found out that using it as a punishment [Once in a Lifetime] is still decently frowned upon, hence the very rarely)
Even then, sometimes the hatred CAN be a bit extreme. For instance ECHOES (by Oldcat/Lyk4n) has a scene in the past where the MC catches his ex cheating on him. The MC then uses this experience that he utterly despised to grow and develop as a person by trying to be less shy/antisocial and be more like the jocks in some ways. Anyways, People apparently gave the dev so much hate for it that he has basically gone on vacation until January despite it being... ok... (MC didn't actively cheer it on/encourage it, MC fell to his knees and knocked open the door, MC didn't watch the full scene, and the MC was utterly heartbroken and felt betrayed.)
So, those are my observations from roughly 3 (three) years of dwelling in these types of communities. (1 year of lurking without an account and 2 years of actually having an account)

I want to say thanks for making such a great game I loved the story and the girls but the reason I loved it so much was not because of the H scene's or whatever it's because I was going through a really difficult time and this allowed me to escape into another world and feel like someone new but everybody thinks I'm probably crazy. I would rate it 4/5. The 1 rating I deducted is that the faces of girls looking so alike. Many side characters (with name) and NPCs(no name) are just the template sets of faces. This make me quick get tired to see them. Their postures too. No idea why author made so much postures for the girls. They look so much catwalk-model-feel. The final con is the whenever they( including MC) say something, their mouth actually stayed closed, not even opened.
Well, like MANY AVNs on Itch, this game uses HxS2 assets, this is an asset set ripped from the HoneyXSelect game engine. The Dev has little power over that. Skin tone, eye colour and size, avatar size, bust size, overall dress size, butt size.... these things can be managed to some degree... BUT, the basic models skeleton, the meshed frame, verticies, the skinned nodes, etc etc etc that is MUCH harder to change and requires A LOT more work.
You move from animation, and coding, in to the realm of high end 3d modelling and CAD, and high end graphic design and texturing. Doing those properly, can in many cases can actually be MUCH harder than coding or animating.
In fact, if a developer is going to modify assets to that degree and employ those skills, if the engine supports it, it is often better to make your own, proprietary models.
No one is going to do that for a side project.
